This is me
I am Thabisa Nxawe, a Fashion Design Graduate, freelance photographer and a professional Ballet and Hip Hop dancer. I was born and raised in a small town called Aliwal North.
FASHION:
I studied Fashion Design and finished in 2023 at the North West School Of Design. When it comes to illustrating fashion sketches, creating a garment or just simply dressing up: there's always a concept behind them or an idea. I am fascinated by ideas. I am delighted when I discover beneath the complex surface an elegantly simple concept to explain why things are the way they are. To me and idea is a connection. My mind is the kind of mind that is always looking for connections. An idea is a new perspective on familiar changes. I love all these ideas because they are profound, they are clarifying, they are novel, they are contrary, they are bizarre. For all these reasons I derive a jolt of energy whenever a new idea occurs to me.
PHOTOGRAPHY:
I have always been drawn towards art and found it interesting from a very young age. My interest in photography started when I was 14 years old. I then did a short course in photography in my first year at North West School Of Design, which grew to become a passion of mine. I’m in love with the idea that I am able to capture and visually represent what’s in my head. I am drawn towards Art photography, Portraiture and Fashion Photography as I feel that these align with who I am and are elements of myself. I revel in taking the world we all know and turning it around so we can view it from a strange but strangely enlightening angle.

I bring
visions to life.
